GitHub Education Application Not Approved (Student)

Hi everyone,

Today, I tried to apply for the GitHub Student Pack, but after two attempts, I was not successful. I can provide the admission result from the provincial examination authority, as well as my university admission letter (which includes the name of my university, my major, and my reporting date), along with proof of student verification from Alipay.

The possible reason for rejection might be that my university is located in Guizhou Province, China, but due to certain special reasons, I can only access GitHub through a proxy. Additionally, since the semester has not yet started, I am currently at home in Shandong Province, China.

I sincerely hope that my application can be reconsidered and approved. Thank you very much for your understanding and support.

That's a bit off-topic but you can change the date of a commit to any date in the CLI and then push it to a repo 😉

Now the term should has begun, have you get your access?
You could try to get a CHSI verification to prove your admission.
Or you should get a student license now.My license didn't show the school name and github has banned me several times with this issue...f word

没学生证的话学信网应该可以查到，不过可能得想办法整个英文版的学籍认证信息。要是发下来学生证了也行，不过详情页要是没有学校名也完蛋。我们学校学生证详情页没有学校名，因为这个给我ban了好几次了，日

Sorry to hear your application was rejected. The GitHub Student Developer Pack team usually verifies applications based on two main things:

Proof that you’re enrolled in a degree-granting institution.
A valid school-issued email address or other official documentation.

Since your semester hasn’t started yet, that may be the reason your application was rejected. Admission letters or exam results sometimes aren’t accepted because GitHub Education prefers documents that confirm current enrollment rather than future admission.

What you can try:

• Reapply once your university semester officially begins, using your student ID card or official enrollment certificate.
• If your school provides a .edu or university-issued email address, applying with that often makes the process much smoother.
• Make sure all the documents you upload clearly show your name, university name, and current validity period.
• Accessing GitHub through a proxy or being in a different province won’t affect your eligibility, so that shouldn’t be a concern.

In the meantime, keep your documents ready — once the semester starts and you have proof of active enrollment, you should be able to reapply successfully.
