About the outage

Recently, I coded with npm and encountered an extremely slow installation and update(it is fine now). Meanwhile, AWS was on a significant outage. Were those relational?

That's a great observation, and you are almost certainly correct. They are very likely related.

The npm registry, which is the massive database that hosts all the packages you install, runs on cloud infrastructure. Many of the internet's core services (including parts of GitHub, npm, and countless other companies) rely heavily on AWS (Amazon Web Services).

When a major AWS region (especially a critical one like us-east-1) has a significant outage, it causes a chain reaction, leading to slowdowns or complete failures for all the services that depend on it.

So, it's not just a coincidence. Your slow npm install and the AWS outage were almost certainly related.
