Rejected github education application

Hi everyone,

Hi. GitHub rejected my application: "Please complete your GitHub billing information with your full name exactly as it appears in your academic affiliation document." I updated my billing information with my full name exactly as it appears in my academic affiliation document. Nevertheless, GitHub continues to reject my application. I don't understand the reason. There is a technical problem with their system. Please, I need your help to fix this. Or, can you explain what else I can do to satisfy GitHub that I am academic personnel?

Hi @tasengin,

Make sure to fill in your billing info and GitHub profile with your full name exactly as it appears on your academic transcript. Then log out and log back into GitHub before reapplying, because the application system gets stuck in a loop even after the required information has been updated.

If you still get rejected, submit the application using another device, such as a smartphone or another PC.

If none of the above works, I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select "Other" and explain your problem.

@samus-aran I am facing the same exact issue and submitted more than 5 times from different devices phone and PC , can you check my submission form ?

I guess GitHub doesn't really want to support education. From what I understand, no one on GitHub is really interested in the problems we educators face. It's a shame... @samus-aran, @davevad93, @mgriffin, @mohamedammar10

Hi @tasengin We had a review of the particular submissions that was stuck and unstuck it. You were able to reapply. 👍
We can see that your latest submission that it's stating that your billing info isn't filled out correctly. Ensure you have by navigating to the Payment Info under Billing on your profile.. Save, log out and in again and re-submit an application.

@tasengin I agree with you. I'm trying and being denied all the time. My impression is that they created this program just to make it seem like it has some social purpose, but in reality, the fewer people who succeed, the better.

If your GitHub Education application was rejected, don't worry! You can reapply. Here's what helps:

Common rejection reasons & fixes:

1. Unclear academic email → Use your .edu or official school email
2. No proof of enrollment → Upload a valid student ID, enrollment letter, or class schedule
3. Photo quality issues → Make sure documents are clear and readable

To reapply:

1. Go to https://education.github.com/discount_requests/application
2. Submit with clearer documentation

Again rejection. Are we surprised? Of course not. I did everything that was asked for in the letter. As I said, no one seems to care. It's complete nonsense. I can't find words to say.
