From a novice C++ programmer, is there a way / do we want to add a linting rule for this?

I think that would be nice to have and I'd be happy to take a closer look and see what can be done, but let me know if you'd like to work on that.

This commit is a suggestion for adding a rule for NULL usages in the code base. This will currently report a number of errors which could be ignored using // NOLINT (readability/null_usage)
# Match string that indicates we're working on a Linux Kernel file.
_SEARCH_KERNEL_FILE=re.compile(r'\b(?:LINT_KERNEL_FILE)')

_NULL_TOKEN_PATTERN=re.compile(r'\sNULL\s?')

Yeah, using a word boundary would be better. I've updated now. Thanks

There are some probably unrelated errors in the last CI. New CI: https://ci.nodejs.org/job/node-test-pull-request/11791/
