Incorrect "forked your repository" notification in activity feed

I noticed a strange issue in my GitHub activity feed. I received a notification saying that a user I follow "forked your repository," but when I checked, the repository they forked does not actually belong to me. I am not an owner, collaborator, or contributor to that repository.

It seems like the activity feed is incorrectly attributing the fork action to my account. Could this be a bug?

I've seen someone else post the same issue, its definitely a bug so you should contact github supprot

It seems that all fork notifications in my feed are showing this error now. I just saw another new fork notification with the same issue. I will report this to GitHub Support. Thank you for your answer!

This looks like a visual bug in the GitHub activity feed. The “forked your repository” message seems to be a generic activity notification triggered by someone you follow forking any repo — not necessarily one you own.

Even though it says “your repository,” it's likely just misattributed by the UI. The correct source repo is shown under the forked repo details — in this case, kitUIN/ShadowPluginLoader.WinUI, not yours.

✅ To clarify:

You’re not listed as the original repo’s owner/collaborator.

It’s just a misleading phrasing in the activity feed, not an actual permission or repo ownership issue.
