Hi ! I had a similar issue not long ago. If you’re getting denied even with a school email and a registrar letter, it’s usually because GitHub can’t match your school info with their database. Did you try submitting with the manual verification option and uploading both documents? Here’s the official process if you want to double-check it: Explain to me where are you stucked exactly and i will try to help you ;) |

Hi @Sampsonfarms0, Make sure to fill in your billing info and GitHub profile with your full name exactly as it appears on your academic transcript. Then log out and log back into GitHub before reapplying, because the application system gets stuck in a loop even after the required information has been updated. If you still get rejected, submit the application using another device, such as a smartphone or another PC. |

Welcome to the community @Sampsonfarms0! We're excited to have you here and appreciate you reaching out for the first time - let's see how we can help you. It would be preferable that a student is on campus when applying and thus able to upload a document but with remote learning that isn't always possible, so we request students submit a live photo of their evidence rather than an upload. We understand that students may not have access to high-quality cameras (laptop or phones) but as long as the text is legible the system should be able to process it. Here are a few tips on using a photo to capture.

🎓 Tutorial: How to Get Verified for Education Perks (e.g., GitHub Education)This guide outlines the standard process for students to obtain education-specific benefits, using the widely recognized requirements for the GitHub Student Developer Pack as the core model. Successful verification grants access to premium tools (like Figma, Notion, or premium IDE access) for free. 1. ✅ Preparation: Eligibility and Required DocumentsBefore starting your application, ensure you meet the criteria and have digital copies of your proof ready. A. Eligibility
B. Acceptable Proof of Academic StatusYou will need a document that clearly displays your name, the institution's name, and a current date of enrollment/validity.
2. 📝 Step-by-Step Verification Application (General Flow)The steps below are typical for most services offering student benefits. Step 1: Access the Application Portal
Step 2: Complete the Basic Form
Step 3: Upload Proof of StatusIf verification via your school email fails, or if you are prompted for manual verification, you must upload a document.
3. ⏱️ Review and TroubleshootingA. Review Timeline
B. Common Reasons for Being DeclinedIf your application is rejected, it's usually due to an issue with the documentation.

Hi !
I had a similar issue not long ago.
In my case, my school wasn’t listed correctly (wrong location), but the verification still worked.
If you’re getting denied even with a school email and a registrar letter, it’s usually because GitHub can’t match your school info with their database.
Did you try submitting with the manual verification option and uploading both documents?
Also, make sure the name on your ID matches exactly the name on your school letter.
Here’s the official process if you want to double-check it:
